Report: UNEARTH To Co-Headline OZZFEST's Second Stage

February 15, 2006

Alternative Press is reporting that UNEARTH will be co-headlining the second stage of this year's Ozzfest.

"We're playing something like third-to-last on the bill or something; yeah, we're basically headlining the second stage," UNEARTH guitarist Ken Susi told the magazine in an interview conducted on Tuesday (Feb. 14).

Susi informed Alternative Press that the tour will again run from the beginning of July through the end of August as in years past, but offered no insight to any other bands confirmed for the trek.

Susi did inform the magazine, however, that his band will be recording their third proper full-length from March to May in Seattle with producer Terry Date (DEFTONES, PANTERA). The album will be released by Metal Blade this July — "just in time for Ozzfest," Susi noted.

Susi also told Alternative Press that before the album's release and their Ozzfest stint, the band will be heading overseas to Europe for a string of shows, possibly to be followed by a Japanese tour as well. All dates are pending.

Lastly, Susi also told Alternative Press that in the brief downtime following their new, currently untitled album's completion, he will begin working in earnest on the debut LP for BURN YOUR WISHES, his rock side project which he fronts alongside KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's Adam Dutkiewicz on guitar, SEEMLESS' Derek Kerswill on drums and ex-POISON THE WALL bassist Iano Dovi.

"It's just something I do for fun," Susi says. "It's kinda cheesy, but I love it."

No bands have been officially confirmed for Ozzfest. However, Jesse Hayes of the Cleveland radio station WMMS 100.7 FM announced last month during his daily "Buzzard Rock Report" segment that BODY COUNT — the heavy metal band fronted by rapper/actor Ice T — will be performing at this year's traveling festival. DISTURBED frontman David Draiman also revealed during an appearance on the Seattle station 99.9 KISW that his band will also be appearing on this summer's Ozzfest. Meanwhile, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's booking agent recently told Billboard magazine that Zakk Wylde and Co. have also been confirmed for this summer's trek. Additional offers to play the tour have been extended to AVENGED SEVENFOLD and ATREYU, according to recently published interviews with both artists.
