Report: SW1TCHED's SCHIGEL Turned Down Offer To Join DROWNING POOL

November 21, 2003

Jason Bracelin of Cleveland Scene is reporting that SW1TCHED frontman Ben Schigel was asked to join the platinum metal band DROWNING POOL, replacing the replacement (Jason "Gong" Jones) for former frontman Dave Williams, who died during the Ozzfest 2002 tour from cardiomyopathy, a heart muscle disease for which he was never diagnosed. Schigel had been working with the Dallas natives in their hometown, doing pre-production for their second album, much of which Schigel will produce. As rapport blossomed between the band and Schigel, the full-time gig was offered. Schigel, somewhat surprisingly, turned it down.

"They were getting along a little better with the dude they had, and I was like 'I'm just gonna do my own thing,'" explained Schigel.

SW1TCHED, who were recently joined by former STUCK MOJO/STEREOMUD bassist Corey Lowery, are planning on changing their name to SKY FALL DOWN by January to reflect the new musical direction the band are taking as a result of Lowery's addition to the group. The band, who are currently unsigned, recently parted ways with their label (Immortal Records) and their manager, and are said to be moving away from the KORN-influenced crunch of their 2002 debut, "Subject to Change", and toward more melodic hard rock.
