Report: Backstage Visit With METALLICA

August 25, 2004

Jessica A. Wilson of Fort Francis Times Online reports: When METALLICA began to play "Nothing Else Matters" at a concert last week in St. Paul, Mn., Cst. Armand Jourdain sent out a silent shout-out to his friend, Brent Ogden, who had passed away from cancer in 1999.

METALLICA had been Ogden's favourite band, and "Nothing Else Matters" was played at his funeral. So when Cst. Jourdain found out he had won a backstage pass to the show, he knew he was not only going for himself, but also for his friend.

"Star-struck, I guess."

Cst. Jourdain has been an avid concert-goer over the years, recently attending MADONNA's concert in Toronto and one by AEROSMITH this past May. So when he heard back in March that METALLICA was going to be so close by, he paid $60 and joined the fan club to get first crack at the floor seats.

Then two weeks ago, there was a random draw for a backstage pass and an opportunity to meet the band. To Cst. Jourdain's surprise, his name was picked.

"I never win anything, I just applied not expecting to win a thing," he remarked. Read more.
