RAVEN: New Songtitles Revealed

June 15, 2006

Long-running British metallers RAVEN have revealed more information about their recent recording session at Assembly Line Studios in Vienna, Virginia. The project was self-produced, with Kevin 131 engineering and mixing. The songs that were laid down are as follows:

01. Against The Grain
02. Running Around In Circles
03. Breaking You Down
04. Necessary Evil

Kevin 131 (PROJECT: FAILING FLESH, DECEASED, DYSRYTHMIA, OVER IT, WHILE HEAVEN WEPT) has issued the following statement about the project:

"A few months ago John [Gallagher, RAVEN bassist/vocalist] and I came into contact with each other. I had not heard anything from them in years, so I was very glad to hear new material. We chatted a few times, then met up here at the studio. The vibe and energy was great, but I had no idea that it would translate as well as it did when we got into the studio. RAVEN came in to track a few tunes so they could have some ideas down before going to Germany before Bang Your Head!!! festival. The sessions sound great. It's back to old-school RAVEN… great energy, raw, energetic. These were quick sessions — set up and go. But something great happened — the energy and intensity is there, without being overthought and overproduced. It will be great to hear a whole record keeping this vibe when it rolls around!

"They have one song, 'Against The Grain', which, I may go out on a limb here, may be one of my favorite RAVEN songs in the last 10 years. Up there with 'All for One' material, in my opinion! 12-string bass, crazy guitars, trademark insane vocals. John, Mark [Gallagher, guitar] and Joe [Hasselvander, drums] are great guys — very pro, damn hilarious, and a pleasure to work with. . . John said these songs were not for release, but I am sure that one day these versions will see the light of day. All RAVEN fans should look forward to the record, for sure."

RAVEN expect to go back into the studio soon to record more songs.
