RAMONES Drummer Says JOEY RAMONE Would Have Backed BARACK OBAMA For President

October 31, 2008

Legendary drummer Marky Ramone, a surviving member of the world-famous RAMONES, has released the following statement in response to any and all persons campaigning that have utilized the RAMONES name. "I 100% back Barack Obama for President. So would have [late RAMONES frontman] Joey Ramone; he was a Democrat as I am."

Marky Ramone (born Marc Steven Bell) joined the RAMONES in 1978 and played with the band for 15 years before asked to leave the group in 1983, reportedly due to his alcoholism. He returned in 1987 and played with the RAMONES up until their retirement in 1996.

Marky Ramone was recently inducted into the Long Island Hall of Fame for his lifetime music achievements.
