QUEENSRŸCHE's ROCKENFIELD Auctioning Off 'Tribe' Drum Kit

May 16, 2003

QUEENSRŸCHE drummer Scott Rockenfield is selling the drum kit utilized during the recording sessions for the group's new album, "Tribe". The auction, which ends on May 18, can be accessed via eBay at this location.

Says Scott: "Custom built by myself, this drum kit was custom built and used during the recording of QUEENSRŸCHE's up-and-coming release titled 'Tribe'... These drums are some of the most amazing sounding and looking drums I have ever played. My goal in designing my own kit for this record was to seek out the perfect sound. I am VERY happy with how they achieved this goal for me...

"The shells are made from 100% Keller maple shells. The toms are 6 ply, the Kick drum is 8 ply, and the snare is 10 ply. All shells have 45 degree precision cut bearing edges. All hardware is black anodized and is made from a very sturdy die cast steel which was custom designed for this particular kit. I decided to finish the drums with a black ebony stain, which gives the drums a beautiful, very dark 'charcoal brown' appearance. Also included are 'rims' type mounts on all of the tom toms, that will accept a standard 7/8 inch size tom stand.

"Sizes are as follows:

18x22 kick
16x16 floor tom
11x13 rack tom
11x12 rack tom
10x10 rack tom
8x8 rack tom
5.5x14 snare drum

"Shipping within the continental USA for all drums will be a total of $200.00

"For many years now I have been playing drums made from some of the top manufacturers, and I can easily assure you that these drums rival the top of line models by any major drum manufacturer...!!! The retail value of these drums is easily greater than $5000.00..!!!

"I will also include a certificate of authenticity stating that these drums were used during the recording of QUEENSRŸCHE's 'Tribe' CD, and I will personally 'sign' the inside shell of the kick drum for whoever is the winning bidder. (if they so desire)...My hope is that someone will also find these drums to be very inspirational to play...!!

"Good luck...All questions can be directed to [email protected]"

"Tribe", due in late summer/early fall through Sanctuary Records, was engineered by Scott Olson, who has worked as the "full-time right hand" to Terry Date (producer for such bands as the DEFTONES, PANTERA and LIMP BIZKIT, among others). The follow-up to 1999's "Q2K" was mixed by Adam Kasper, whose past credits include PEARL JAM and the FOO FIGHTERS.
