QUEENSRŸCHE's GEOFF TATE: 'The Door Is Officially Closed' On CHRIS DEGARMO's Return To Band

May 30, 2005

On the eve of QUEENSRŸCHE's U.S. tour in support of JUDAS PRIEST, vocalist Geoff Tate called into "The Classic Metal Show" to discuss the tour and the progress of the recording sessions for the new QUEENSRŸCHE album, the next chapter to the 1988 ground-breaking concept album, "Operation: Mindcrime", tentatively titled "Operation: Mindcrime II", among other topics. An excerpt from the interview follows:

The Classic Metal Show: In the past, you've said the door was open for [former guitarist] Chris DeGarmo to come in and add his input. Has he shown any interest in doing anything as far as "Mindcrime II" goes? I know he has a whole other career outside of that, but has he shown any interest in being a part of it in any way?

Geoff Tate: "Well, that door is officially closed on Mr. DeGarmo now. It's nothing bad, or evil intent here. We had our kind of reunion working together on the last 'Tribe' album, and it didn't work out. It wasn't a joyous celebration of our union as partners and writers and all that. We felt that the time in our history, it was, has been, and now it's closed and we're moving on to a different generation...."
