Producer: NEW YORK DOLLS Reunion Concert To Be Released On DVD

July 19, 2004

Veteran producer Kevin Shirley (IRON MAIDEN, DREAM THEATER) has posted the following update on his web site:

"Sad news, the NEW YORK DOLLS bassist and founder, Arthur 'Killer' Kane, died last week, right when I was in the middle of mixing the DOLLS reunion concert, which was filmed for a DVD release just last month at the Royal Festival Hall in London. So, we've been watching the footage of him, and it's sad, and yet thrilling to see how happy he looks, and terrific that the concert has been captured on film, which will be a testament to him, of sorts. The concert is definitely very rough and ready, and very 'punk', but it's a helluva lot of fun to watch! Also, had to finalize the DREAM THEATER DVD audio, which was a lot of work — and then I had to redo THE DARKNESS track — and remove the word c**t, which apparently American radio will not play! As producer Roy Thomas Baker points out, the c**t has been replaced by a big hole! Oh, I'm a bad man!"
