PRIMORDIAL To Record New Album This Summer

March 27, 2007

Vocalist Nemtheanga of the Irish dark metal masters PRIMORDIAL has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"It's been a busy time lately personally so excuse my lack of posts on the site.

"Anyway soon there will be a tour report from our little jaunt to Finland which was excellent and I have to say we were very surprised at the amount of support and crowds we got. Guess that's the auld Internet for you... You'll read all about our sordid exploits very soon...

"And our next show is Inferno in Norway. First time we've ever been there so hopefully I'll have some positive things to report next time... We are on Thursday night before ZYKLON on the main stage, in case you were wondering. I hope the flight isn't delayed...o) or you might be looking at 'Spinal Tap' cardboard cutouts.

"Looks like we are going to have a 'Gathering Wilderness' and 'Dark Romanticism' picture discs also in 2007. Not confirmed yet either of them but the chances are looking really good. Not to mention the split releases with both ROTTING CHRIST and DESASTER.

"Speaking of ROTTING CHRIST it was with great honour and pride I got up with them here in Dublin and sang 'The Sign of Evil Existence'. Something I remember hearing for the first time on an advance tape back in 1992. And here we were 15 years later singing it with them in Dublin. What goes around comes around...

"We are starting to get somewhere here and there in slow PRIMORDIAL fashion with the songwriting for the new album, there are more then a few ideas. We are just sifting through them and trying to figure out what works and what doesn't work at all. Ideas for recording are becoming as concrete as they ever were before but for once it looks like we are going to record in summer. Every single album without fail has been recorded in winter. Which although inspiring sometimes can get really tiring trudging your way through a Dublin winter to sit listening to the same song 50 times for 8 hours....

"Who knows?! Maybe the sun might even shine.

"The new MARDUK album is out now with the track on there I sang on so check it out and see what you think...

"Another daft anecdote: Got to say when I was about ten years old my uncle gave me a few tapes, 7"s and compilations which got me into rock and metal and my favourite band and most played tape of the time was without question a 60 minute-compilation tape of UFO. So it brought a big smile to my face last weekend to see UFO here in Dublin and have Pete Way sign one of my old UFO vinyls. A real rock 'n' roll warhorse in his own right. 'Doctor Doctor' indeed.... Wish I got a damn picture. Damn it now, why can't we get a drum sound like it was 1978?"
