POISON Frontman To Perform At COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION Festival

June 9, 2004

Bret Michaels of POISON fame and occasional country crooner, will perform at CMA Music Festival/Fan Fair Sunday night (June 13) at The Coliseum in Nashville, Tennessee with Capitol Nashville artist Chris Cagle.

"This is what CMA Music Festival is all about," said CMA Executive Director Ed Benson. "Exciting and fresh musical collaborations."

"The fact that someone in my opinion as legendary in rock and roll as Bret Michaels values what I do in country music enough to make an appearance is validating and gratifying," Cagle said. Michaels "recognizes country music as a viable genre and he supports it. That says a lot about our format and its fans."

"It's such an awesome feeling not only as a musician, but as a big fan of country music to be able to perform 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn' on the Coliseum stage for the CMA Music Festival," Michaels said. "I get to share the stage with some of the music world's greatest artists including my good buddy Chris Cagle, whom I will be performing 'Every Rose' with.

"And fair warning to the fans, I'm throwing a big party at Tootsies afterward — a real deal Fan Jam. You may want to take work off the next day!"

Also performing Sunday night are Dierks Bentley, Glen Campbell, Pat Green with special guest Willie Nelson, Keith Urban, Hank Williams Jr. and Wynonna.

Bret Michaels and POISON broke out of the LA club scene and went on to sell 20 million records and record a string of No. 1 hits including "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Something to Believe In". His country connections include living in Nashville in '95 and '96 while shooting "A Letter From Death Row", a film he wrote, directed, produced and starred in with partner Charlie Sheen.

While in Nashville, Michaels wrote "The Other Side of Me" with noted songwriters Gary Baker and Frank Meyers. Michaels plans on making a crossover album of AAA and country material by the same name. The project features vocal collaborations with Jay DeMarcus of RASCAL FLATTS, Cagle, Jeffrey Steele, Mark Wills, Jessica Andrews and more. Michaels is no stranger to country audiences, as he's performed with Travis Tritt, Charlie Daniels and Kenny Chesney.
