PICOROCO RECORDS Founder Passes Away

May 24, 2005

Eduardo "Picoroco" Navarrete, who is said to have been one of the most important figures in the South American metal music scene, was found dead in the bathroom of his mother's apartment Monday evening (May 23).

The cause of death is presently unclear but it is presumed to be a heart attack.

Picoroco had been active in the metal scene since the early Eighties and had formed his own record label, called Picoroco Records. With the label, he helped to produce and release albums from such acts like CRIMINAL, BEWITCHED, POEMA ARCANUS, KINTRAL, BLODEN-WEDD, CENTINEX, BRUJERIA, BITTERDUSK, WITCHBLADE and the legendary South American band PENTAGRAM.

Picoroco was in the process of releasing the impressive debut album by gothic doomsters LETAL SOLARIS, a mini-CD by WITCHBLADE, the second album from KINTRAL and the DVD release of PENTAGRAM's "Reborn 2001" video, which is already available on VHS.

Anyone interested in expressing their condolences on Navarrete's passing can do so by sending an e-mail to Negative Entertainment at [email protected]. Francisco (Negative Entertainment's label manager) will pass all messages on to Eduardo's family.
