PERRY FARRELL Planning To Expand LOLLAPALOOZA

May 14, 2007

Launch Radio Networks reports: Former JANE'S ADDICTION frontman and Lollapalooza co-founder Perry Farrell told MTV.com that he plans to take the alternative rock festival worldwide in the next few years. Farrell said, "I'm about to put it into 3.0...I'm going to look to take it global. I want to put together an event around the world in the next 10 years that will refashion, redress and transform." Farrell added that his vision would be to have the festival "following summer" around the world in order to keep it outdoors.

PEARL JAM is headlining this summer's Lollapalooza, scheduled for August 3-5 at Grant Park in downtown Chicago. MODEST MOUSE, MUSE, SNOW PATROL, the SILVERSUN PICKUPS, BLUE OCTOBER, the YEAH YEAH YEAHS and dozens of others are also on board for the show, which is marking its third year in the Windy City.

Farrell's own new band, SATELLITE PARTY, will also perform at the event. The group's debut album, "Ultra Payloaded", arrives on May 29.

SATELLITE PARTY features former EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, as well as Farrell's wife, Etty Lau Farrell, on backing vocals.

The band will perform at the Highland Ballroom in New York on June 4 and on CBS-TV's "Late Show with David Letterman" on June 5.
