PAINDIVISION Parts Ways With Guitarist, Announces Replacement

September 2, 2009

Guitarist Mark Hobson has left Australia's PAINDIVISION in order pursue his musical career further overseas in Finland and has been replaced by Ben Thomas, who previously played guitar in the Sydney-based band THUNDASTEEL.

Thomas, who made a guest appearance on EMPIRES OF EDEN album "Songs of War and Vengeance", "has brought a devastating technique that will add to the band's dual shredding capabilities," according to a press release.

Ben will make his debut with PAINDIVISION when they headline the "Onslaught of Sound" fest in Canberra on September 26. This show will be captured on video for a future DVD release. Also scheduled to appear at the event are SWITCHBLADE and a host of the country's emerging metal acts.

In other news, PAINDIVISION's Dan Quinlan has taken on the role of playing bass in death metal act THE AMENTA. This stint will work alongside Dan's singing/bass duties in PAINDIVISION while keeping the "PAIN" a priority.

Writing has commenced on the follow-up to PAINDIVISION's 2008 album "One Path" which will showcase for the first time on CD the extraordinary drumming talent of Peter Hunt (ex-DRAGONFORCE, MARSHALL LAW). Pete has just finished up a touring stint drumming for IRON MAIDEN legend Paul Di'Anno.

The as-yet-untitled new effort is set to showcase "a more technical and brutal side" to PAINDIVISION sound, according to the press release.
