OZZY OSBOURNE: 'I Still Believe In Rock And Roll'

May 31, 2007

Details magazine recently conducted an interview with Ozzy Osbourne. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

On filming "The Osbournes":

"There were shitloads of cameras everywhere. But I told them I've got to have a safe room. I've got to have a room where I can go and scratch my balls or pick my nose or squeeze a zit and not be on camera."

On the show's popularity:

"My son [Jack Osbourne] said to me one day, 'Dad, let me ask you something. Do you like people laughing at you?' And I said, 'You know what, Jack? As long as they're laughing, I don't give a fuck.' I didn't really understand what he was saying then, but in hindsight he was sort of saying, in a nicer way, that everybody thinks you're a fucking joke."

On his former drug habit:

"I very rarely went onstage loaded. At the end of a show — that's when I'd get Vicodin'd."

On snorting a line of ants:

"I have no recollection of that — [the MÖTLEY CRÜE tour] was absolutely out of control. But I couldn't have kept on living that lifestyle, because I didn't want to die. You have to get pissed off at yourself before you put your hand up for help."

On remaining anti-establishment:

"I don't like hanging around in nightclubs. I still believe in rock and roll. And my son's too old to get called up now, but I always said that if they bring back conscription, I would make sure he didn't get through. I don't like the idea of my son being called to fight for some silly little war in Iraq over fucking oil."

On attending the 2002 White House Correspondents Association Dinner:

"I was fucking out of my tree. I was absolutely fucking loaded."

On surviving an ATV accident:

"I was not going more than three or four miles an hour, and I ended up in a coma for eight days … If I had been going 120 miles an hour it would have been a cool way to go — but four miles an hour? Ozzy Osbourne!?"

The June/July issue of Details will be available nationwide on June 5.
