OVERKILL In Talks To Play GIGANTOUR

January 24, 2006

Greg Wilson of Doomsdaymusic.com recently conducted an interview with D.D. Verni of OVERKILL/THE BRONX CASKET CO. fame. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Doomsdaymusic.com: Now speaking of shows I know you guys [THE BRONX CASKET CO.] were supposed to have one in October but you basically had it taken away from you what happened?

Verni: "Oh, we were supposed to play with VAN HELSING'S CURSE. I guess the people who run the band — I guess you call it a band — and the management and people in there are total, total fuck-ups. So it just got… I mean, they wound up not doing the show. They canned us because they didn't want a support band on it at all. It was not anything toward us in particular, they just didn't want a support band at all, so I don't know how it got through a promoter and into advertising and radio ads and everything else before they decided that but one hand didn't know what the other hand was doing and it was just basically a total mess so that whole thing kinda fell apart for them and us."

Doomsdaymusic.com: I know OVERKILL is touring through the first part of next year, what are your plans after that? Do you plan on taking THE BRONX CASKET CO. out on the road?

Verni: "We're talking right now about doing some stuff in April over in Europe. If that happens or not, I don't know. Even for OVERKILL, when we finish in February or March, we'll probably start thinking about doing a new record... We've even been talking with [Dave] Mustaine [MEGADETH] a bunch lately about doing the Gigantour and being a part of that for the summer time, so if we end up doing that we'll have to stop our writing process, but otherwise it looks like OVERKILL will finish up in February and work on getting to writing. And THE BRONX CASKET CO. — that's right when we're thinking about doing some touring, but that shouldn't be a problem, because that's me and Blitz [vocals] writing the songs so I can always send him... I already have some stuff for the new album and I can always send him some material if I go out on the road. It's a pretty easy process with me and Blitz when it comes to doing OVERKILL records."
