OVERDRIVE To Release New EP Next Month

May 16, 2006

Swedish metal band OVERDRIVE, who are known for their classic albums "Metal Attack" and "Swords And Axes" in 1983-1984, have completed work on a new five-song mini-CD, entitled "Resurrected", with engineer Johan Blomström (BLINDED COLONY, KAPTAIN SUN). The disc features new track "Ride the Fire" (written in 1984, but never recorded) and re-recordings of "Back on the Hunt", "Black Revenge", "Overdrive" (the first song ever written by the band in 1980) and "Burn in Hell".

Commented the band in a statement: "This is just a limited edition teaser of what’s to come, should any label be interested (we have enough material for a double album 'nudge nudge'). It also feels great to finally make up for the lacking mix of the original version of 'Back on the Hunt' on the first album."

"Resurrected" will be made available as a "nicely packaged" digipack MCD with a great cover by Stefan Harrysson, pressed in only 500 copies. Pre-orders are currently being accepted via [email protected]. The MCD will be released to coincide with the band's gig at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 10. The bands's current lineup features original members Janne Stark, Kjell Jacobsson, Kenth Eriksson, Kenta Svensson and new singer Per Karlsson (ex-UNCHAINED).

OVERDRIVE split in 1985 but reformed in 2003. Since then the band has played several live shows and festivals.
