OTEP Frontwoman Discusses How Poetry And Music Intersect; Video Available

July 17, 2007

Singer Otep Shamaya is known largely for the hard rock band she leads under her own name (OTEP). Few people know about her roots in poetry. In an interview with Metaphor magazine, laced over her band's May 25, 2007 performance in Minneapolis, Otep discusses how poetry and music intersect. Watch the clip at YouTube.

OTEP bassist Jason "Evil J" McGuire revealed during a recent interview that the band has worked out a split with Capitol Records and is shopping around for a new label.

OTEP has posted another new track, entitled "March of the Martyrs", on its MySpace page. The song comes off the group's long-awaited third full-length album, "The Ascension", due later in the year. The CD was recorded in New Orleans over the course of several months with Grammy-winning producer Dave Fortman (EVANESCENCE, MUDVAYNE).

OTEP recently parted ways with guitarist Karma Cheema (ex-AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE) and replaced him with Aaron Nordstrom.
