Original Lineup Of THE WILDHEARTS To Headline U.K.'s IN THE CASTLE Festival

July 9, 2005

The original lineup of THE WILDHEARTS has been confirmed as the headliners of a huge rock concert, dubbed In The Castle 2005, that will be held on September 17 in the grounds of the U.K.'s Scarborough Castle.

The venue can accommodate up to 6,500 people and the all-day festival could be one of the biggest events in the 870-year history of the castle, according to Scarborough Today. The reformed TERRORVISION are also scheduled to appear on the bill, with THERAPY? and BACKYARD BABIES rumored to be taking part in the event.

The promoters for the event are a Hull-based company called In The Castle Ltd.

Lucy Winstanley, a press officer for the company, said: "The concert is the result of negotiations over the last eight to 12 months with English Heritage, which runs the castle.

"This is an ambitious project to bring mainstream artists to the town to perform in what can only be described as the most unique and inspiring location for such events on the East Coast.

"If the event is a success it will be repeated in other years and there are also plans to put on concerts at other castles in England."

David Bailey, head of visitor attractions for English Heritage in North Yorkshire, said: "The plan is for a concert in an area of the castle grounds known as the cricket pitch area, in the middle of the field and nowhere near the main ruins or keep area."
Ticket details and prices are expected to be available by early next week on a new web site, www.rockinthecastle.co.uk.
