Original EDEN Guitarist RICK SCOTT CROCCO Passes Away

December 4, 2006

Longtime metal journalist and Shockwaves magazine editor Bob Nalbandian has released the following announcement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"I am saddened to report that Rick Scott Crocco passed away on the morning of December 3, 2006 in his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. The cause of death is undisclosed. Rick was the original guitarist for the Orange County, CA hard rock band EDEN, who released their debut self-tiled album in March of 1986 on the Enigma/Restless label. Rick received critical praise as virtuoso guitarist and was often compared to the likes of Paul Gilbert, whom he had graduated from G.I.T. with in 1984.

"In 2003, the German label Metal For Muthas/High Vaultage released a limited-edition CD of EDEN's debut record that featured several bonus tracks, including EDEN's 1987 five-song demo tape that included vocalist Mike Stone (current guitarist for QUEENSRŸCHE) and two songs recorded live at Irvine Meadows, CA when EDEN opened for DOKKEN and GREAT WHITE on September 13, 1986. Rick also played guitar for the Salt Lake City metal band BLISTERED TOAD, who released one self-titled five-song CD in 1994.

"Original EDEN vocalist/rhythm guitarist Michael Henry (who also fronted AUGUST REDMOON in the early '80s and ARMED FORCES in the late '80s/early '90s) lost his long battle with cancer on August 22, 1998."
