ONSLAUGHT Issues METALCAMP Recap

July 13, 2008

Reactivated British thrashers ONSLAUGHT have issued the following update:

"Another new country for ONSLAUGHT and yet another great festival, Slovenia's Metalcamp!

"We had the pleasure to visit Slovenia a little while back and have always wanted to return there as it is such a beautiful place to spend some time. So we were all real happy when we got confirmed for this awesome festival. We were scheduled to play the final day along with ARCH ENEMY.

"Just before we were due to leave England on the Sunday night, I heard from friends at the festival that the weather had turned bad and was causing a lot of disruption, this was a bit of a bummer as were looking forward to having some real hot fucking sun to thrash around in.

"Our arrival in Slovenia on Monday morning was greeted by the shining sun much to our suprise and off we headed on a two hour drive to the festival site. But the closer we got to Metalcamp the more the weather blackened. By the time we reached Tolmin, the heavens had opened and the rain was fucking torrential; in two seconds you were literally soaked to the skin. We hit the site, met up with promoters and went to check in to the hotel. Luckily, after three to four hours things dried up so we could get out and have some beers and talk to some fans and meet up with some friends. Another drunken night followed.

"At 3 AM Tuesday morning, everyone was woken by one of the most angry thunderstorms we've ever come across, this fucker did not wanna stop — twelve hours later at 3 PM and it is still raging. I seriously thought the festival would be cancelled it was that bad. But, as we all know 'Satan holds the power of the gods' and amazingly one hour before our show time, the rain just stopped and back came the sun for the remainder of the festival.

"We hit the stage at around 6:15 PM, we played virtually the same set as at Bang Your Head!!! but with the inclusion of 'Power From Hell' to close our show. Tthe response from the amazingly brave crowd that had endured almost two days of solid rain was fucking awesome, again we're blown away by how many people know all the words to every fuckin tune.

"It's such a pity for everyone about the weather, but this festival is one of the greats. The location is stunning, right up there with Brutal Assault festival and the organization/facilities were superb. Hopefully one day we will return to play once again. We recommend highly!

"Huge respect to all the fans and thank you to all the Metalcamp team and Rock The Nation for inviting ONSLAUGHT to play Metalcamp 2008."
