OF THE FIRST BORN SON Calls It Quits

June 20, 2008

Kitchener, Ontario, Canada-based band OF THE FIRST BORN SUN has decided to disband. The group has scheduled a farewell performance in its hometown on July 25 at The Gig.

"Yes everyone, it's true! We are packing it in and saying goodnight," said frontman Jamie Schoch in a statement. "I never thought I'd be writing this but unfortunately I am. We all had a great time while it lasted and we want to thank everyone for the never ending love and support, anyone who bought some merch, came up and talked to any of us, told a friend about us, came to a show or even told us how much we sucked! We don't take any of it for granted and we will remember those times forever. Come out to our final show, as it will be your one final chance to come out and party with us and maybe throw a fist or two in the pit!"

OF THE FIRST BORN SON was a rising star within the Ontario hardcore and metal scene. The group's self-titled debut album was released by Year of the Sun Records and was followed by opening slots with EMMURE, ARISE AND RUIN, LEGEIA, ENDWELL, FAREWELL TO FREEWAY and A PERFECT MURDER, while the songs "Paper Caskets" and "Playing Dodgeball with a Shotgun" were chosen as GarageBand.com's "Metal Track of the Day" earning them monstrous downloads in the online world.
