OF MICE & MEN Releases Surprise New Single 'Unbreakable'

April 23, 2017

OF MICE & MEN has released a surprise new single and video called "Unbreakable". The song is the new material from the Orange County metalcore outfit since the departure of longtime singer Austin Carlile. Handling lead vocals in the group now is bassist Aaron Pauley.

Carlile announced his departure from OF MICE & MEN last December. Although his exit was initially believed to have been caused by the fact that he was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, a rare genetic tissue disorder, he has since revealed that a feud with his former bandmates contributed to the split.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1's "Rock Show With Daniel P. Carter", Pauley stated about OF MICE & MEN's decision to carry on without Carlile: "If you followed the media reports over the past year along with Austin's statement, having to leave because of his health. I think we… I don't know. It's hard to talk about. It's still not an easy thing to think about the future without him. One of the things that Austin expressed to us was that he really wanted us to keep going. He didn't really want this to slow anything down as far as playing shows or anything else. For us, we took a few days to decide that."

Earlier this month, Carlile gave fans an update on his health, saying that he would be "seeing some of you THIS summer!"

OF MICE & MEN's latest album, "Cold World", came out in 2016.
