OBSCURA Signs With RELAPSE RECORDS

Relapse Records has announced the signing of Munich, Germany-based death metallers OBSCURA. The band is currently recording its second full-length album with producer V. Santura (DARK FORTRESS) at The Crypt Studios for an early 2009 release.

Commented OBSCURA guitarist/vocalist Steffan Kummerer: "We are very happy to have found in Relapse a strong partner for the upcoming albums. We think Relapse is one of the best homes for progressive death metal in general and we are looking forward for this longtime cooperation. We are putting the final touches on the mix and mastering for the upcoming album which will see the light in the beginning of next year. OBSCURA are back — stronger than ever!"

OBSCURA has several festival shows lined up, including a performance at the Beuken op Zondag festival in the Netherlands this weekend. The band will also headline the Munich Deathfest on November 8. Kummerer says the band will play exclusive new material during these festival appearances and is preparing for more touring in the New Year.

The band's lineup is as follows:

Christian Muenzner (ex-NECROPHAGIST) - Guitar
Jeroen Paul Thesseling (ex-PESTILENCE) - Bass
Hannes Grossmann (ex-NECROPHAGIST) - Drums

OBSCURA's upcoming CD will feature cover art and layout by German artist Timo Wuerz.

Released in 2006, OBSCURA's debut album, "Retribution", was produced by Alex Krull (ATROCITY, LEAVES' EYES) and includes guest appearances by V. Santura (DARK FORTRESS),Matthias Röderer (ATROCITY),Thorsten Bauer (ATROCITY) and Martl (PROFANITY).
