Not Your Typical 18-Year-Old: West Virginia Teenager Puts On SHADOWS FALL Gig

Justin McElroy of Huntington, West Virginia's The Herald-Dispatch is reporting that "the day of a typical 18-year-old on summer break probably begins sometime around noon with a hearty round of eating Doritos and watching reruns of 'The View', followed by more sleep, and maybe, just maybe, a journey to the mall.

"Well, one local 18-year-old has a bit more than that on his plate, and the fruits of his labor [were] available for public consumption [Sunday night, July 27] at the Monkey Bar.

"Huntington High School graduate Brandon McCoy has been involved in the music production business for close to a year now, bringing various hardcore and metal acts to the area. He got his start under the tutelage of Don Maynard, a Huntington resident and police officer who has booked acts such as KID ROCK, SALIVA and PANTERA.

"Brandon's latest project [went] down [Sunday night] at The Monkey Bar. And it [was] one of the biggest bands Brandon has ever brought to the area.

"SHADOWS FALL, a [Massachusetts]-based hardcore metal band, [was] the headliner.

"So far, the year has been good to SHADOWS FALL with a stint on the Ozzfest tour. McCoy says booking the act was even more exciting because they're one of his favorite bands.

"Another one of McCoy's favorites, SWORN ENEMY, [joined] national act HOTWIRE in supporting SHADOWS FALL. Both bands were also featured in this year's Ozzfest tour." Read more.
