NECROPHAGIA Mainman Speaks Out On PHILIP ANSELMO, Upcoming Projects

September 5, 2002

Despite rumors to the contrary, there is no bad blood between NECROPHAGIA mainman Killjoy (whose real name is believed to be Frank Pucci) and PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo over the demise of their joint label venture, Housecore/Baphomet Records, Killjoy revealed in an interview conducted with Korea's RockNew.com two weeks ago.

"Philip is a great guy, he's like a brother to me, unfortunately due to extreme scheduling conflicts and previous commitments we will not be working together any longer," Killjoy said.

The following are some of the other highlights from the above-mentioned interview:

On how he became friends with Philip Anselmo:

Killjoy: "Basically I met Philip in 1990, we became good friends over our mutual passion for true horror. He resurrected NECROPHAGIA in 1997 by writing some truly dark, horrific music that persuaded me to start doing music and NECROPHAGIA again."

On VIKING CROWN:

"VIKING CROWN is officially done. It was Philip's decision, he started the band and it's his choice to do what he wants with it I had a great time with VIKING CROWN. No Regrets!"

On AMICUSS (the proposed project with Philip Anselmo, AMEN's Casey Chaos, and SLIPKNOT's Joey Jordison):

Killjoy: "I'm not sure what's going on with that at this point my real concern is recording the new NECROPHAGIA. AMICUSS might happen one day.

"AMICUSS will not release an album in 2003, Nothing has been worked on besides some riffs and vocals.

"Casey and Joey are friends I knew them both before the idea of AMICUSS. I've known Casey for about 20 years now. He's a very close friend."

On HELLPIG (the proposed black metal project with SLIPKNOT's Joey Jordison):

Killjoy: "HELLPIG is currently recording a song [for] my upcoming [Luciano] Fulci tribute. The song is called 'Body Bags'. HELLPIG is Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS/WATCHTOWER),Joey Jordison, and myself. Joey and Jason are both good friends, so we decided to do something very sick and violent."

On EIBON (the black metal project with Anselmo, SATYRICON's Satyr and DARKTHRONE's Fenriz):

Killjoy: "We recorded basic tracks in Norway and the vocals, guitars in New Orleans.

"I'm not sure what's going on with EIBON. Maybe we'll release a full album someday, but not anytime in the near future.

"Originally EIBON was formed with Maniac (MAYHEM) and myself, we later added Fenriz, then Satyr and Anselmo joined. Maniac quit shortly after for various reasons.

"EIBON is old-school black metal with a rock and roll vibe which has nothing in common with VIKING CROWN."

On THE RAVENOUS (project with ex-DEATH/AUTOPSY drummer Chris Reifert and former BRUTAL TRUTH/NUCLEAR ASSAULT bassist Danny Lilker):

Killjoy: "THE RAVENOUS will release a new MCD titled Three On A Meathook in October 2002 on Red Stream Records. We'll record our new full-length, titled Blood Delirium, later this year and it will be released on Southern Lord [Records]."
