NATRON: 'More Evil, Brutal And Damn Groovy Than Ever Before!'

June 7, 2006

Drummer Max Marzocca of the Italian death metallers NATRON has issued the following update:

"Yes, we know it! Someone already started to think we disappeared because we didn't update [the web site] for a while but the reason of this three-month-long silence was that we preferred to wait a little while before to communicate to the world out there what was going on in the band's camp, so here we are now with some hot news!

"We definitely didn't sleep over all this time but we worked our ass off!!!! We elected not to book any show or summer festival, which is something we really miss, in order to focus on the next album songwriting and this by far paid us up!

"Me and Domenico (guitars) spent an incalculable number of hours jamming in the rehearsal room, during the time which we finally came up with eight new songs, and yet without a definitive song list (we have ideas/riffs for other two songs ) we settled the basis for a new killer job. Worth mentioning is our concrete move towards new territories, exploring a new 'weird phonic' blend. Being metaphoric, it seems like all our extreme old roots and influences are 'pushing' into each other; there are NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER and SUFFOCATION on one side and CORONER, VOIVOD and SLAYER on the other 'squeezing' us in the middle! We further dropped down our guitars tune to C in order to supply more power to the whole thing and — hell, the result sounds even more evil, brutal and damn groovy than we ever did before.

"Regarding the drum patterns, blastbeats and fast double-bass rolls are always there, but I added more up and mid tempos to the song structure and speeded up the whole shit to obtain a full head impact!!! Lyrics-wise, it's all about some of our beloved topics, like epidemic, contagion, pestilence and plagues, generally everything dealing with this world apocalypse, while Mike's death growls are more raged and expressive than in the past, and a bit hardcore-styled, in my opinion. We were too curious to listen how the new material sounded like that we just couldn't wait any longer. Therefore we speeded off to the Jolly Roger studio and spent the last two weekends to demo the new songs with Miky Giove, our soundman (who engineered the 2004 'Livid Corruption' album) and impressions were even more positive! Friends coming visit us in the studio were headbanging and 'pigeon-necking' at every song and we took this as a really good sign!!!! We're up to record the album after this summer at the Jolly Roger though still where to hold the mixing sessions is yet a matter to discuss therefore every decision is postponed during the following weeks!

"Stay tuned, we're going to keep you updated as soon as we can with the complete song-list , album title, and — of course — infos on our future label home, having not found yet a new label to release this new phonic insult."

NATRON split with France's Holy Records after releasing four albums through the label: 1999's "Negative Prevails", 2000's "Bedtime for Mercy", 2002's "Necrospective", and 2004's "Livid Corruption". The band's most recent full-length effort, "Livid Corruption", was recorded at Jolly Roger studios in Italy and was mixed at Starstruck studios in Denmark with Anders Lundemark (KONKHRA). The mastering session took place in Paris, France.
