MUDVAYNE Tap Producer DAVE FORTMAN For New Album

May 12, 2004

MUDVAYNE have selected Dave Fortman (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, EVANESCENCE) to produce their third, as-yet-untitled, Epic Records release, tentatively due in the fall. Singer Chad Gray, guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan Martinie and drummer Matt McDonough chose Fortman (a former guitarist for UGLY KID JOE) because they felt Dave could combine the band's extreme elements.

"We've been extremely fortunate to work with some amazing producers," said Gray in a statement. "Garth Richardson captured the band's raw energy on the first record and David Bottrill gave our music a three-dimensional quality on the second record. For this record, we asked Dave Fortman to produce because we wanted someone who can bring both of those elements together into a sound that's brutal and beautiful."

Before heading to The Plant in Sausalito, California, Fortman plans to spend time with MUDVAYNE in pre-production. "I've found that those first few days are the most important when it comes to setting the album's tone and challenging the band about their goals and fine-tuning the arrangements for maximum emotional impact," Fortman said in a statement.

The upcoming album follows the success of MUDVAYNE's first two albums — "L.D. 50" (2000) and "The End of All Things to Come" (2002) — both of which were certified gold.
