MOTÖRHEAD Guitarist PHIL CAMPBELL's Solo Album To Feature Guest Appearances By DEE SNIDER, MATT SORUM

June 26, 2017

MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell spoke to Sweden's Rock Sverige about the status of his long-awaited solo album, which will reportedly feature guest appearances by Rob Halford (JUDAS PRIEST) and Chris Fehn (SLIPKNOT). He said: "Dee Snider [TWISTED SISTER] is doing some vocals. Benji [Webbe] from SKINDRED has done it. I'm really lucky to get these people on it. [Former GUNS N' ROSES and THE CULT drummer] Matt Sorum's gonna do a track. He's doing it next week. It's gonna be good."

When asked what his solo album will sound like, Campbell said: "It's not gonna be what people expect. I play piano on a few tracks. I don't know, since it's not finished yet. I've still gotta write another six songs for it, but it's not gonna be all totally like MOTÖRHEAD. After many years, it's just nice to be able to do what I want. I could do what I wanted in MOTÖRHEAD, but we didn't wanna stray too far away. We'd put a saxophone in when we wanted and a piano and acoustics…"

Campbell is currently playing shows with PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS, which features Phil alongside his three sons — Todd, his eldest, and Dane from STRAIGHT LINES; and Tyler from THE PEOPLE THE POET — plus vocalist Neil Starr.

PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS recently inked a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast.

In celebration of the signing announcement, the band has put together the exclusive digital-only live EP, "Live At Solothurn", which is available via all download and streaming platforms.

Phil Campbell was the lead guitarist in MOTÖRHEAD for more than thirty years.
