MOSHPIT TRAGEDY RECORDS Now Accepting Demos For 'DIY Series'

May 17, 2007

Canada's Moshpit Tragedy Records has announced it will begin accepting demos from aspiring punk and metal bands wanting to be considered for a release in their "DIY Series" (do-it-yourself).

Commented Moshpit Tragedy co-founder Rayny Forster: "We began as a label with these DIY releases, hand screenprinting and packaging them ourselves. Though there are restrictions with this particular format and we are now concentrating on the distribution of our professional releases, we have also decided to continue doing the DIY releases in small runs because, well... we think they're really fucking cool! We decided to get the bands out there that we would offer a free DIY release with a purchase of any professional CD from our website. We also send out free stickers, buttons, patches and we have gotten some amazing feedback.

"There are only two things we ask the bands to keep in mind when submitting a demo. First, we ask that you don't see these releases as the main support for your band and that you look at them as more of a cool, limited-edition collectors' thing. They are totally handmade and very time consuming, but the ones we've done so far have turned out really cool. Secondly, we ask that bands offer their support and get to know us by purchasing at least one of these releases, seeing what they are all about and then sending in your CD for consideration. We need the support of punk and metal fans if we are able to continue supporting new talents and we will certainly be more willing to consider a band who has shown their support. Every label receives many emails from bands asking to be signed and half the time they don't even know what the label is all about. Past that point even if they're a great band no label can take the risk if the band is not already heard of. So it's cool we are able to at least do this for the more unknown bands that kick ass and deserve to be heard."

Bands wanting to be considered for a release in the "DIY Series" can send demos to:
