Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL will team up with Switzerland's SAMAEL for the "Night Eternal Above America Tour" in October/November. Also scheduled to appear are BOOK OF BLACK EARTH and SECRETS OF THE MOON.

A widget for the trek can be found below.

Fernando Ribeiro of MOONSPELL commented: "Call me emotional, but as a southern dark fuck I have the gut feeling that this will be the best and most important tour we have ever done in America! First and foremost, the music from all the bands is great, lively and emotional and sharing the stage with SAMAEL again is an honor we highly regard. And no more 25-minute sets!!! For sure, we'll party less than on the great 'Blackest of the Black' with DANZIG and DIMMU BORGIR, but we'll spend more time in the altar celebrating with you guys and that's what counts! Last, we fear not to be a headliner in a country where we know we are still giving baby steps, and we'll do our best, musically and visually to deliver upon you the 'Night Eternal', the solar and the lunar, in our songs and bodies. Be there for the full moon madness!"

Vorph of SAMAEL added: "When we first released 'Above', we weren’t sure we would tour for that album, but we’re thrilled this is happening and we’re glad this time America will be the first. We already gave a taste of it in March when we toured with CARCASS but on this upcoming tour it will be the chance to experiment 'Above' on a larger scale and see how it meshed with the older material. The billing is totally to our liking and sharing the stage once again with MOONSPELL will be great fun for us and for the people attending those shows. See you back on the road."

MOONSPELL released its long-awaited new DVD, "Lusitanian Metal", in December in Europe via Century Media Records. The first disc features one complete live show recorded live in Katowice in 2004, all video clips (from "Opium" to "Everything Invaded"),an in-depth interview with all current band members and a detailed discography. The second disc offers a historical overview of the Portuguese metal group's period as a Century Media recording artist, with no less than 50 live tracks, starting with some very old-school live rehearsal recordings back in 1992 and ending with live footage from the "Spreading The Eclipse Tour".

"Lusitanian Metal" is available as luxurious limited-edition kingsize mediabook with both DVDs as well as a CD with the complete Katowice show as well as a standard 2DVD in a super jewel case. The CD included in the limited edition is also available separately.

The band's latest album, "Night Eternal", entered the national chart in Portugal at No. 3 and in Germany at No. 62. The follow-up to 2006's "Memorial" was recorded at Antfarm studios in Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, DARK TRANQUILLITY, HALFORD).

"Above", the new album from SAMAEL, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 99.

Audio samples of all 10 tracks that appear on "Above", are available on Amazon.co.uk.

In an interview with Beyond the Dark Horizon, mainman Vorph stated about "Above", "It is like an enhanced version of our three or four first albums, maybe the missing link between 'Ceremony of Opposites' and "Passage". With the 'Era One' project we've tried to work on different influences, [and] with 'Above' we stripped everything down. It is a metal album through and through. . . 'Above' is a little bit of a tribute to our early years as a band and to our first influences. If you listen to our two last albums, you can tell our roots go beyond that but 'Above' is a good résumé of what pushed us to start playing music in the first place."
