MIKE PATTON: No New FANTOMAS Album Until 2008

September 12, 2006

In a recent interview with U.K. magazine Rock-A-Rolla (web site),former FAITH NORE MORE frontman Mike Patton said that a fifth release by star-studded noise-mongers FANTOMAS — which also features MELVINS guitarist Buzz Osborne, MR. BUNGLE bassist Trevor Dunn, and SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo — would probably not see the light of day for a couple of years. "I'm gonna take a little break from FANTOMAS and do some other things," he stated and added that the record will be "all electronic" and will contain "no acoustic instrumentation." In the same article, Patton revealed that the next TOMAHAWK and PEEPING TOM records would likely be released in 2007.

Speaking to Greg Prato of Billboard.com in May 2006, Patton revealed that the first all-new studio effort from TOMAHAWK since 2003's "Mit Gas" was coming along "slowly but nicely — and I'm completely to blame for the slowly part. [Guitarist] Duane [Denison] has had stuff written for it seems like eons now, and I'm just been very backed up. It's getting closer and closer to my main focus now. So I expect once I can zero in on it, we'll be able to bang it out and hopefully record it before the end of the year."
