METALLICA To Join SAN JOSE SHARKS For Special 'Metalli-Sharks' Night

December 15, 2014

San Francisco Bay Area-based metal giants METALLICA are extending their sports partnerships by joining the San Jose Sharks on January 21, 2015 against current Stanley Cup holders the Los Angeles Kings for a night of "Metalli-hockey mayhem." The band will travel down to San Jose on January 21, 2015 for a special "Metallica Night" with the NHL's San Jose Sharks as they take on their bitter rivals, the Los Angeles Kings.

METALLICA says in a statement: "What's that, we hear you say? 'ANOTHER Bay Area METALLICA-sports tie-in?'

"Well, as some of you may know, we have been long supporters of the Sharks going back to the mid-'90s when the team moved permanently to San Jose... Over the years we've made many treks down to the Shark Tank. So it's actually pretty fitting that we finally connect with the team for a night of metal and hockey and we want you to come along and partake of the festivities with us. We'll be on hand for the first strains of 'Seek & Destroy', kick off the game with the puck drop, and partake in some of the intermission fun and games that Sharks fans know and love."

Special "Metallica Night" tickets go on sale this Wednesday, December 17 at 10:00 a.m. PST and include a "Metalli-Sharks" shirt with a portion of the sales benefiting the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club. Be sure to purchase the special event ticket here at sharks.nhl.com in order to also receive the shirt.

METALLICA last month revealed that the 2014 World Champion San Francisco Giants have invited the band back for the third annual "Metallica Night" at the Giants' hometown ballfield, AT&T Park. The band will be on hand all evening on Saturday, May 2, 2015 during the game between as the Giants and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and will participate in several events throughout the night, which will also feature special giveaways and souvenirs.
