Speaking to Globe And Mail a couple of weeks ago, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich admitted that he and his bandmates have pulled several fast-and-furious oldies for the current tour. "We started playing a lot of the old stuff again, like 'Blackened' and 'Ride the Lightning' and 'No Remorse' and 'Leper Messiah'," he said. "All these crazy old songs that have a little more teeth to them than 'Turn the Page'. . . This doesn't mean we won't get back to 'Turn the Page' in a few years. But right now some of that wacky old stuff just seems a little more in line with where our heads are at."

While on tour in Europe recently to publicize their new album, "St. Anger", the members of METALLICA hooked up with the guys in a German METALLICA tribute band. The Germans had been following them through several cities (no doubt to pick up pointers),and so the real METALLICA thought it would be fun to find out what the fakes thought of the show.

"We met them, and I was like, 'How you doing? You playing any stuff from 'St. Anger' yet?'" said Ulrich. "And a guy goes, 'We can't play 'St. Anger'. It's too difficult.'"

Ulrich laughed, and said, "So I go, 'Well, join the rest of us!' " Read more.
