METALLICA: 'So What' Book Preview Available Online

July 29, 2004

METALLICA's official web site has uploaded the first preview of the band's upcoming book, "So What: The Good, The Mad, and The Ugly". A posting at the site reads: "An example of how we have handled the massive task of grabbing sponsor section highlights. Each band member has two blasts within the book, and we decided to 'collage' as many things as we could without making it completely illegible. Thus we see here a hodge-podge of cool Larsian moments and some poignant memories. Bless him. With Kirk, we can see an artist at work, plus some magnificent pictures of the even more magnificent Darla."

As previously reported, "So What! The Good, The Mad and The Ugly" (view cover here),due on August 17 through Broadway Books, will be issued as an over-sized hardcover and will include more than 1,000 photographs, bandmembers' handwritten entries, drawings, and reflections, and roundtable discussions with the group at its most revealing. Archival materials, including band photos and exclusive interviews and features, were compiled from "So What!", the official METALLICA fan club magazine. Current band members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo have added new material, including an introduction and hand-written notes and comments throughout. The book was edited by Steffan Chirazi, full-time chronicler of the band and editor of "So What!" magazine, a quarterly that is mailed to 20,000 members of the METALLICA fan club.
