METALLICA In 92.3 K-ROCK 'Hostile Takeover'; Audio Highlights Available

July 28, 2007

METALLICA members Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich took over the the airwaves on New York's 92.3 K-Rock on Monday, July 23. Check out the playlist and listen to highlights at this location.

METALLICA hasn't even finished recording its new album and already the project has a fan in VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum. Sorum told RollingStone.com that he had a chance to hear early versions of several of the songs, explaining, "Lars (Ulrich, METALLICA drummer) is a good friend of mine. He played me the demos from San Francisco, and I turned and looked at him and I said, 'Master that shit and put it out.' It's ridiculous. The demos were sick. Eight-minute songs, all these tempo changes, crazy fast. It's like, 'Dude, don't get slower when you get older, but don't get faster!? How are you gonna play this live?'...They're cutting everything to tape, no fuckin' ProTools — live, no clicks. Bitchin'. I dig it. I'm really excited for them."

METALLICA recently returned home from a European tour to continue working on its ninth studio album. The band hopes to complete recording and mixing by November and release the new CD in the spring of 2008.

The group said in interviews during the tour that they want the new album to recapture the vibe of their classic 1986 effort, "Master of Puppets".

METALLICA has also contributed the song "Enter Sandman" to the highly anticipated Rock Band video game, due out this fall. The group plans to make its entire catalog available for future editions of the game.
