March 15, 2006

MEGADETH took part in a press conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates earlier today (March 15) ahead of their appearance at tomorrow's Desert Rock 2006 festival. Check out the pictures from the press conference at Phride.com. Also scheduled to appear at the Desert Rock festival are TESTAMENT, 3 DOORS DOWN, REEL BIG FISH and MANNIKIND

As previously reported, SAXON were removed from the billing of this year's Desert Rock earlier in the week because one of their songs from the 1980s ("Crusader") includes lyrics about freeing the Holy Land and spilling Muslim blood.

MEGADETH's appearance at Desert Rock will mark their debut performance with new bassist James Lomenzo, who has previously played with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and WHITE LION, among others.

Lomenzo joined MEGADETH as the replacement for James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH),who was fired from the group on February 10, 2006 due to "personal differences."
