MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Says GIGANTOUR Lineup Announcement Is Coming Soon

December 8, 2007

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:

"I mentioned over at the Gigantour site that there is a new site that is going to be developed with your help to connect with me and the band and make your experience even that much cooler than before. Although I posted that here a while ago, I am making sure that the Gigantour part of my last post over there is not overlooked. I doubt that anything related to overlooking is going to be possible this year. And I talked with the North American talent agent for Gigantour and for MEGADETH about the announcement of our tour lineup for Gigantour 2008 in the U.S., Canada, and Good Lord willin', down with my friends in Mexico, ole!

"So mark your calendars and come back regularly to see updates on what the exact time is after the New Year for the official announcement, and revealing the lineup and official artwork for Gigantour 2008 North America, which will no doubt be leaked, due to the incredible excitement over the lineup."

Mustaine revealed during an appearance on the "Talking Metal on Fuse" show on Fuse TV on November 9 that IN FLAMES and CHILDREN OF BODOM are in talks to play next year's Gigantour in North America. Another act that may be taking part in the trek is the Arizona-based extreme metal group JOB FOR A COWBOY.

As previously reported, MEGADETH, LAMB OF GOD, OPETH and ARCH ENEMY are among the artists featured on the "Gigantour 2" DVD, due on April 22, 2008 via Image Entertainment. The disc — which was recorded last year's during the second installment of Dave Mustaine's traveling heavy metal festival — will feature the following track listing:

01. THE SMASHUP - Rachel's Day
02. SANCTITY - Zeppo
03. INTO ETERNITY - Timeless Winter
04. OVERKILL - Thanks For Nothing
05. OVERKILL - Long Time Dying
06. ARCH ENEMY - Nemisis
07. ARCH ENEMY - We Will Rise / Bridge
08. OPETH - Window Pane
09. LAMB OF GOD - Vigil
10. LAMB OF GOD - Red Neck
11. LAMB OF GOD - Something To Die For
12. MEGADETH - Take No Prisoners
13. MEGADETH - The Scorpion

In a 2006 interview, Mustaine stated that last year's Gigantour a celebration of headbanging rock at its best.

"It's all about musicianship and people who are positive," said Mustaine, who started the heavy metal package tour in 2005. "We want people out there who aren't afraid to do a guitar solo, and with the guys from LAMB OF GOD, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY and the other bands, we have a great new generation of guitar players out there."

The inaugural Gigantour, which also featured DREAM THEATER and FEAR FACTORY, spawned CD and DVD releases.

The "Gigantour" CD, which came out on August 22, 2006 sold around 500 copies in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
