MEGADETH Mainman DAVE MUSTAINE: 'We Are Firing On All Cylinders Right Now'

September 12, 2006

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message on the Gigantour web site:

"The first week ended and there were a lot of ups and downs, but we are firing on all cylinders right now, and we are so excited to be playing for you all this year again. I can't wait to check out all of the bands and we are all becoming fast friends and thick as thieves backstage.

"We had a huge 'Gigantourture Chamber Party' last night thrown by my manager Kevin Gasser, and he said, 'If we run out of drinks, someone is going to get it!' and believe it or not we had the best time getting to know each other over drinks after the clock was punched out."

In other news, MEGADETH fan site Rattlehead HQ has uploaded a number of photos from MEGADETH's September 10 Gigantour appearance in San Bernardino. Check them out at this location.

The North American installment of Gigantour 2006 kicked off September 6 in Boise, Idaho. The trek features LAMB OF GOD, ARCH ENEMY, OPETH, OVERKILL, THE SMASHUP, INTO ETERNITY and SANCTITY in addition to the headliner MEGADETH.

MEGADETH's new CD, "United Abominations", is scheduled for release in early 2007 via Roadrunner Records. Dave Mustaine recently told Gary Graff of Billboard.com that the album, which he's producing with Jeff Balding, "has a lot of variation on it. It's got some surprises, but there's a really old-school vein to it, I would say." The group has been careful not to rush the album, either, holding sessions in London, Los Angeles and Nashville since earlier this year.

"We're taking our time with this one," Mustaine said. "It's a great feeling to make a record and not have our feet held to the fire. One of my heroes growing up was KISS, but they really frustrated me 'cause they would put out a record just about every year. I couldn't figure that out. I pretty much have a cycle of about 18 months to 24 months between records. I just can't put them out any quicker than that and feel comfortable about them."
