MEGADETH, DEFTONES, BEHEMOTH, NAPALM DEATH Confirmed For Denmark's COPENHELL

February 3, 2010

MEGADETH, BEHEMOTH and NAPALM DEATH are among the confirmed bands for the inaugural edition of the Copenhell festival, set to take place June 11-12 at B.W. Pladsen in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The festival billing is shaping up as follows:

MEGADETH (US)
SUPERCHARGER (DK)
MNEMIC (DK)
BEHEMOTH (PL)
THE PSYKE PROJECT (DK)
NAPALM DEATH (UK)

According to Pollstar, the minute-and-a-half long promo video (see below) at www.copenhell.dk has the "devil" himself, flame red with spiky horns and wearing a trench coat, emerging from a Copenhagen subway. It continues with him taking a brief tour of the city and buying a hot dog from a food outlet near the harbor.

The clip doesn't even mention a festival, dates, or the names of any acts but it's caused a flurry of interest on the Internet.

"We [hadn't] said anything to the media but since the film went online we've been having calls asking what's going on. There have been messages about it on so many sites," says Jesper Chistensen of Live Nation Denmark, which is setting up Copenhell.

"The film clip has been a great teaser and we're hoping to build on it as we go on," Chistensen explains.

Although the huge industrial site, an appropriate setting for a metal festival, could probably accommodate a 15,000-capacity crowd, Chistensen says he'd be happy with half that number in the first year and build on that platform.
