Meet Winners Of SLIPKNOT Mask Contest

November 10, 2005

Georgette Braun of the Rockford Register Star has issued the following report:

Benjamin Schuster is known for two things at work: Doing his job as a machinist at Janssen Machining in Loves Park and drawing during down time.

Staff at the shop suggested he enter our contest to draw a mask he'd like to see a SLIPKNOT member wear. He did, and he received the most votes in our online poll.

The win netted him, courtesy of the band and its promoters, two tickets to Saturday's show at the MetroCentre in Rockford, a SLIPKNOT mask, a CD sampler of the band's "9.0 Live" album released this month and posters. He also gets in five minutes early to the show, courtesy of WXRX (104.9 FM).

Schuster, 22, of Poplar Grove likes the band so much that he had a SLIPKNOT symbol tattooed to his left forearm two months ago. He's never seen the Des Moines heavy metal band, whose nine members wear masks, so he's excited about the weekend. "I heard they put on a good show."

Schuster's mask (view drawing) features a sinister-looking, zombielike character with tufts of hair.
