MATT SORUM Talks About Star-Studded DIAMOND BABY Video, Name Change

July 21, 2011

Former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum spoke to RollingStone.com about his new band called DIAMOND BABY. The group, in which Sorum goes by the name Baron Von Storm, features Matt's longtime girlfriend Ace Harper (a.k.a. Ace Of Diamonds) on lead vocals, Lisa The Lover on keyboards, Mr. Fitz on bass and Duke Oz on guitar.

DIAMOND BABY's debut video, for the song "The Last Rockstar", can be seen below. The clip features appearances by "Glee"'s Jane Lynch, actress Juliette Lewis, MOTRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister and actor Verne Troyer.

"I called Verne Troyer and Lemmy and Juliette Lewis and Jane Lynch is my next-door neighbor, so I asked her to do it," Sorum tells RollingStone.com. "She's so busy, she's such a huge actress now, but then she said she'd love to do it because she's never done a rock video or a music video. And when I told her she was going to play my butler, she was cool."

Regarding his name change, Sorum says, "My former name and my former musical background I probably couldnt do as much. I wanted to kind of dabble in a different music area. So the rock side of me is the other name I really felt like more of a Ziggy Stardust kind of character with this."

Sorum and Ace Harper previously played together in DARLING STILETTOS, which Matt helped produce.
