MASTODON TV Special To Premier On MTV2

January 19, 2006

A 30-minute television special by Atlanta hard rock giants MASTODON will premier on MTV2 this Saturday, January 21 at 11:30 p.m. EST, immediately following the network's "Headbanger's Ball" program.

The special, entitled "Mastodon: The Workhorse Chronicles", will feature live and behind the scenes footage taken directly from the band's official DVD, "The Workhorse Chronicles", that will be released via Relapse Records on February 21. This special is your chance to get a sneak peak of the material included on the visual documentation of a band fast on the rise.

"The Workhorse Chronicles" DVD features over three hours of exclusive MASTODON footage, in-depth interviews with each band member, candid behind-the-scenes shots from the band's personal video archives and a career spanning range of live performances - including rare footage of the band in their initial form as a five piece through to sold-out clubs worldwide. Additionally, MASTODON will issue "Call of the Mastodon", a remixed and remastered collection of their first-ever recording session, in February. Comprised of the first nine tracks the young quartet had ever written, "Call of the Mastodon" is an audio document of a then-new band finding its own space. The nine tracks (some of whose original recordings comprised the "Lifesblood" mini-CD) were remixed and remastered by original engineer Matt Washburn at Atlanta's Ledbelly Sound, and will feature all new packaging courtesy of the band's longtime artist Paul Romano. "Call of the Mastodon" is set for a February 7 release via Relapse.
