MANTIC RITUAL Drummer Checks In From ROTTING CHRIST Tour

January 9, 2009

Pennsylvanian thrash metal band MANTIC RITUAL (formerly MELTDOWN) is currently on the road in North America as the support act for Greek extreme metallers ROTTING CHRIST.

MANTIC RITUAL drummer Adam Haritan has issued the following update from the road:

"Opening a few shows for a legendary band like EXODUS in December, we learned that those guys can be really down-to-earth and cool people in general. Even musicians who have been around a long time are still pushing themselves and giving 100% every time. Younger bands like us can really be inspired and learn a lot from veterans.

"As far as this tour goes, things could've been pretty crazy if it wasn't for the thousands of dollars we put into getting a new engine for the van a few days before our departure. It's only Day One, so we're sure something unusual is bound to happen sooner or later! We're not trying out any new gear we got during the holidays; however [bassist] Ben [Mottsman] got a new eight-pound medicine ball that he brought on the road to keep slim and fit. He vows to keep his pouch at bay while also toning his anterior deltoids. In November, he bought a new Fender Jazz bass that we really liked the sound of. [Guitarist] Jeff [Potts] has a sexy pair of bell-bottoms from 1972 that he will be rockin' on this tour. Oddly enough, none of us own denim vests!

"Our New Year's Resolution is to become super-sexy for all the fans we will meet on the road — hence the medicine ball and bell-bottoms! But seriously, it's the same as the last couple of years: We'll be working hard and playing as many shows as we can, only this time we have a new release to promote."

MANTIC RITUAL will release its debut album, "Executioner" in the U.S. on March 10 via Nuclear Blast Records (February 27 in Europe). The CD was recorded at Andy Classen's (LEGION OF THE DAMNED, DEW-SCENTED, NEAERA, BELPHEGOR, ASPHYX) Stage One Studio in Germany. Vocalist/guitarist Dan Wetmore states, "We had a killer time in Germany recording with Andy Classen. His studio has seen some awesome bands make killer records, and we feel ours definitely holds its own. It's heavy, fast, aggressive, and completely true to the institution of heavy metal. With few distractions in the German countryside, we focused in on getting the album to sound exactly how we wanted. Now, with the album's release, we're planning on unleashing our energy in every city and town we can drag ourselves to."
