MÖTLEY CRÜE's TOMMY LEE Was 'Sucker Punched' In Detroit: DJ AERO

February 8, 2006

DJ Aero (real name: Chester Deitz),a turntablist who regularly backs MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee during Lee's DJing appearances around the world, has posted the following recap of the pair's Super Bowl weekend activities:

"Wow, what a great week. Tommy and I started the week by flying to Arizona to see AEROSMITH and LENNY KRAVITZ. LENNY had the crowd rocking. When AEROSMITH came on we went to the side of the stage and saw them rock all the hits. Thanks to Chris for the tickets and passes.

"Next off, we flew to Detroit. It was such a change from Arizona and the 85-degree weather. We stayed 45 minutes outside of the city in a town called Birmingham. It looks like a mini Beverly Hills, but covered in snow! First night we went to Jenna Jameson's Vivid party. We had a couple of vodka crannys and left. No party vibe. We headed over to Bleu where Tommy and I were playing on Saturday night. Fergie from the BLACK EYED PEAS was hosting. The party was great. After that we headed to P. Diddy's party at the Elysium Lounge. Diddy knows how to throw a party. People were dancing and having a great time. Once we left there, we headed to a great spot in Birmingham called the Blue Martini. Thanks, Les, for hooking up those steak sandwiches.

"Next night Tommy and I headed over to the Penthouse — Rockstar party at the Vault to set up for soundcheck. The stage was huge, all the makings of a really great party, cryogenics and tons of speakers. We left there and set up for the Bleu party. Once that was done we decided to check out the Shady Bowl put on by EMINEM and Shady Records. Biz Markie played all the old breaks. Then Trick Trick came on stage. The crowd really erupted when Eminem jumped on stage and did 'Welcome to Detroit'. We had to get back to Bleu so we could DJ. While on the way out, some doughnut sucker punchedTommy in his face. What a real tough guy! No one saw it coming. It was just a random act of testosterone. One punch thrown and that was it. So we walked out and headed over to Bleu. While walking in the snow '2' dumb asses had video cameras on Tommy, they kept edging him to hit them because they 'wanted to get paid.' Tommy told them to get a job. That was a classic line. Once inside Bleu the dance floor and VIP was packed. Tommy and I gave them two hours of hard-ass breaks and electro. Once that was over we were on our way over to the Vault party but security was not tight and the decision was made that we could not perform. Sorry to all of you who wanted to see Tommy and I rock it. We'll make the date up in the future.

"At last the big game. Thanks to Mark for the great tickets. Once inside we were invited to a private suite, thanks Franco, it was great. Full of food and drink and to top it all off it was on the 45-yard line. Steelers fans were all over the place. I was routing for the Bears but they didn't show up. Chad from NICKELBACK and P. Diddy came and watched the game with us. Diddy is a huge Steelers fan and every time a play happened he waved his towel with the rest of the crowd. After the game we headed back to the hotel where a little ROLLING STONES after-party was jumping off. I stayed for about 10 minutes and headed to bed. What a long week.

"On our way out of Detroit, we ran into Ben Roethlisberger at the FBO. Ben is the youngest quarterback to win a super bowl. Tommy and I congratulated him and took a picture and headed home on the jet."
