MÖTLEY CRÜE Bassist Travels The World For His New Clothing Line

August 18, 2006

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has posted the following message in his online diary:

"I'm sitting in Muscat, Saudi Arabia at the airport as I write this. I woke up today in Jaipur, India, took a private plane to New Delhi (to get around the problems with heightened security from the recent terrorist threats). Leaving to Dubai (again Saudi) in an hour. The airport is covered in soldiers draped in machine guns and bomb stiffing dogs. I don't know whats odder, me wearing a cowboy hat standing in the security line being searched next to about 20 Muslim women all cloaked in black, only their eyes showing or the fact that I keep getting approached for autographs. Of course, one has to ask if I was Tommy, one asked if I was in THE ROLLING STONES.

"India was moving, equally to Cambodia for me. I've posted a few pictures up at 'Fotos' under reality. Enjoy. I seem to have got my passion back for the lens.

"They just called the flight to Dubai. More later.

"I'm in Dubai now, with no sleep. When the plane was taking off from Muscat, I thought the plane wasn't gonna get up. It was shaking, rattling and grunting under the weight of the old Swiss Air 707. It had seen its day, years ago. Kelly and Paul Brown were in India with me working, doing a photo session for Royal Underground [Sixx's clothing line]. We had three bungalows within feet of each other. Between the photo sessions, me and Paul would sneak out to shoot on the streets and soak up the side of India most would like to not acknowledge.

I just [got] off the phone with Frankie and the only way I could explain where I am was that this is where Aladdin is from (ha ha)

"They just called the plane to Shanghai.

"I need sleep. Running on empty.

"Shanghai, China: Just got back to my room. Went straight to business meetings from the plane. I have never seen so much traffic in all my life. Worse than Japan, and that's saying a lot. I have 30 minutes to wash India from my body and meet in the lobby for dinner. I don't know what time or day it is.

"Dinner was eclectic. Something I'm not new to, so I rolled with the punches.

"I guess i really should explain why I'm traveling all the way around the world in just a few days. I know it's started to leak out that I'm involved in a clothing line with Kelly Gray. Our line is developed and going into production as I type away here in Shanghai, but really were two seasons ahead in design and development. There's a lot of research and design in every line and we have a lot of partners both overseas and in America. There's nothing like face to face to get your vision across to your partners. Hence, the crazy schedule.

"As soon as I land, it's right back into the final touches of the new MÖTLEY tour. It's hard to design a show as a co-headliner. There's different rules, concerns and limitations that apply for both bands, and you have to have your show mobile and fast to take down — it's a lot of work. With that being said, I hope I'm not building anybody's hopes up to high (mine too),but I think this show (visually) is even better than the 'Carnival of Sins' tour. I don't wanna give it away; the Internet sorta kills the element of surprise after the first show anyway.

"Off to bed. We have to go two hours outside of Shanghai for a meeting and then back to the airport to go to Tokyo.

"Just went shopping at the Tokyo airport — almost home. I miss the kids so bad. I got them all a bunch of gifts and money from each country.

"I'm gonna kiss the American soil when I land in L.A. There is no place like home. I'll post all this gibberish when i get some sleep and get my high-speed mainline on."
