The Pulse of Radio reports: LINKIN PARK and its Music For Relief organization joined with Unite the United to kick off an eBay auction on Monday (November 5), with proceeds marked for recovery and reforesting efforts in the Southern California areas devastated by last month's wildfires. LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington told The Pulse of Radio that the disaster has touched everyone who lives in the region whether they were directly affected or not. "Luckily, none of us had to evacuate, and none of our homes were in any danger," he said. "But I have to tell you, I think everybody out here has been affected by it, because it is devastating what these fires have caused damage-wise and emotionally to these people. At the same time, you know, mankind always comes together and does amazingly wonderful and beautiful things for each other in a time of disaster and need, and this is definitely one of those moments."
The auction includes more than 60 autographed items from artists like LINKIN PARK, GREEN DAY, MADONNA, AVENGED SEVENFOLD and THE EAGLES, such as signed instruments, collectibles, concert tickets and other memorabilia. VIP ticket packages for various tours are also up for bidding. Go to ebay.com/CAwildfires to view and bid on all the auction items.
Proceeds from the auction will go both toward the immediate needs of the area as well as long-term environmental concerns. More information can be found at musicforrelief.org and unitetheunited.org.
LINKIN PARK leaves for an Asian tour on Wednesday (November 7) and is expected to return for another U.S. trek in February of 2008.
