LINKIN PARK's MUSIC FOR RELIEF To Receive Donation From MLB's AUTHENTIC COLLECTION

July 23, 2008

At 11:30 a.m. EST on Thursday, July 24 at Champs Sports at 5 Times Square (the corner of 42nd and 7th Ave ) in New York City, Mike Shinoda and David "Phoenix" Farrell from LINKIN PARK will accept a $25,000 check from the Major League Baseball Authentic Collection and Champs Sports to benefit Music For Relief.

The event is being used to highlight the issues Music For Relief and LINKIN PARK are working to alleviate. Music For Relief's mission is to respond to natural disasters as they occur to help victims recover and rebuild, with an emphasis on housing, education programs and resources. Music For Relief also recognizes the environmental consequences of global warming, which has demonstrated the capability to accelerate and strengthen certain types of natural disasters. Therefore the second goal of Music For Relief is to prevent and decrease future natural disasters by reducing greenhouse gasses, seeking renewable forms of energy and educating the public about climate change.

Established in 2005 to provide aid for those affected by the tsunami tragedy in South Asia, the idea for Music For Relief originated amongst the members of the band LINKIN PARK who wanted to do something to help the victims. The idea was that if they made a donation, and then asked their musician peers and fans to make a donation as well, a huge impact could be made in assisting relief efforts. With this in mind they started reaching out to others in the music community to get involved and became the founders of Music For Relief.

Major League Baseball's Authentic Collection and Champs Sports are proud to follow the call to team up with LINKIN PARK and Music For Relief in their efforts. Major League Baseball's Authentic Collection and LINKIN PARK are already long time partners, working together on LINKIN PARK's Projekt Revolution tours. This summer marks the third time LINKIN PARK and MLB have taken to the road together, and the second year in which Champs Sports has been involved as a sponsor on the multi-date tour.

Taking the partnership in a charitable direction fits with LINKIN PARK's community based model for increasing the impact of Music For Relief. In addition to helping fund relief efforts with their donation, Major League Baseball Authentic Collection and Champs Sports also endeavor to raise awareness for the need to adequately assist in aiding communities that have suffered a natural disaster, as well as the need to educate the public about climate change.
