LEMMY, GLENN HUGHES, DEE SNIDER Honored At VEGAS ROCKS! MAGAZINE AWARDS

Lemmy Kilmister (MOTÖRHEAD),James Kottak (SCORPIONS) and Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) are among the musicians who were honored at the first-ever Vegas Rocks! Magazine Awards, which was held this past Sunday, August 22 inside the original home of rock, The Elvis Showroom at the Las Vegas Hilton. Honoring local and legendary rock artists, the show, themed "I Wanna Rock," featured an all-star jam capped off with a performance by TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider and '80s hard rock queen Lita Ford.

The event marked the six year anniversary of Vegas Rocks! magazine and was Las Vegas' own first real rock awards show, hosted by the "Publishing Queen of Rock n Roll" and Vegas Rocks! magazine founder/CEO, Sally Steele.

The show was presented in conjunction with Rick White, vice president of the Las Vegas Hilton and music industry legend Jerry Greenberg. Sponsors included Dollar Loan Center, Desert Honda, Nothing But Skulls, XPOZ Supporting A Smoke Free Scene.

A Grand Rock n' Roll Royal Red Carpet media event preceded the event with appearances by Lemmy, Kottak, Hughes, Flavor Flav, Snider and many more.

The show featured a dozen local awards including "Best Rock Band", "Best Punk Band", and "Best Metal Band". Snider received the Rock n' Roll Savior Award; Lemmy accepted the Vegas Rocks! Lifetime Legend Award; the SCORPIONS receivef the Rock Group Lifetime Achievement honor; Flavor Flav got a Best Rock Clock in the Universe Award and Hughes accepted the Inspirational Icon Award. Also appearing were Athena Lee (Tommy Lee's sister),Paul Shortino (ROUGH CUTT, QUIET RIOT),Jake E. Lee (OZZY OSBOURNE, BADLANDS),Ron Keel (KEEL),Jimmy Crespo (AEROSMITH),and Otis Day (from OTIS DAY AND THE KNIGHTS from "Animal House"). Other celebrities that presented, performed or attended included Thomas Ian Nicholas from the "American Pie" films, who is also a musician; Nick Oshiro (STATIC-X); Tony Franklin (THE FIRM); Chris Frazier (WHITESNAKE); Kerry Simon ("Celebrity Chef"); Mario Barth (celebrity tattoo artist); Gregg Giuffria (GIUFFRIA); STEEL PANTHER; and Zowie Bowie.
