LACUNA COIL's CRISTINA SCABBIA Stars In New PETA2 Ad

November 17, 2009

LACUNA COIL singer, cover girl, and animal defender Cristina Scabbia is the star of a brand-new public service announcement for peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization. In the ad, Scabbia urges shoppers to seek out only cruelty-free products and appears above the tagline "Animal Testing Breaks Hearts."

Scabbia, who cowrites an advice column for Revolver magazine, doesn't hesitate to advise against animal testing. "I am only human," she says. "But it feels obvious to me that testing on innocent animals for the sake of our own beauty is absolutely inhumane."

Mice, rats, rabbits, and guinea pigs are burned, blinded, and beheaded to test personal-care products such as shampoo and mascara. No law requires manufacturers to test these items on animals, and hundreds of companies have pledged to use only modern, effective, non-animal tests. A list of cruelty-free companies is available here.

LACUNA COIL is one of many metal bands to join with peta2 and speak up for animals. Visitors to peta2.com will find interviews with all their favorite bands and celebrities — including CRADLE OF FILTH, THE AGONIST, OTEP, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, LAMB OF GOD, and TRIVIUM. They can also enter contests to win great prizes, including free iPods and concert tickets.
