KITTIE Begins Mixing New Album

September 8, 2006

Producer Kevin Shirley (IRON MAIDEN, DREAM THEATER) has posted the following message on his web site:

"Mixing the [new album] from KITTIE today [Thursday, September 7], and I have to confess, I've not heard of them much before, and they really rock hard!! The drums are killing, the guitars are crunchy, the bass is biting and the vocals are sometimes totally menacing, then sweet!!! It's pretty impressive! The tracks are produced by one-time BON JOVI gang member, and all round unique Jerseyite, Jack 'Cap'n Fantastic' Ponti!!! I last worked with Jack when he produced and I mixed a DORO PESCH album back in '94. Wow, time marches on!

"Got delayed in starting the KITTIE mix due to more dreadful Surround mastering of the metal I've been so hard at work with, which resulted in me having to go back and see what happened as the DVD reference disc sounded like garbage!! Played the raw mixes which I am happy with, but the mastering was so bad — so compressed and loud, all the bottom end had been inverted — $10,000 later, so we have to redo the whole thing!!!! F*ck! In some respects I'm pleased we haven't mastered the new IRON MAIDEN album, and the things I miss are made up for by the whole thing sounding much more organic and less 'hyped.'

"Thanks for all the emails from those of you diggin' the [IRON MAIDEN] album — I'm really pleased with it! I think the tour is gonna be spectacular, so look out..."

KITTIE entered Retromedia Studios in Red Bank, New Jersey studio in July with producer Jack Ponti (BON JOVI, DORO, SKID ROW, ALICE COOPER) to begin recording the CD — the band's first since its split with longtime home Artemis Records. Songtitles set to appear on the new CD include "Never Again", "Funeral For Yesterday", "The Change", "Breathe", "Last Goodbye", "Slow Motion" and "Flowers of Flesh and Blood". A March 2007 release through the group's own label, dubbed Kiss of Infamy Records, is expected.

KITTIE's downloadable EP, entitled "Never Again", was released in February through Rock Ridge Music. iTunes is offering an exclusive four-track version of the EP, which includes bonus track "Everything That Could Have Been".

KITTIE has sold more than a million records since the release of its debut, "Spit", in 2000. That album was followed by 2001's "Oracle" and 2004's "Until the End", with several EPs in between.
